I disagree about the condition and even though I will end up paying a total of

$20 for the shipping and handeling I truly don't want the tapes as I feel that

aren't worth viewing.

Sorry,

Jo Ann

What, exactly, is your complaint? Were the tapes damaged enroute? Why aren't they worth viewing? I really don't understand what your complaint is about. If you're asking for a return, please tell me the reason before sending the tapes back. If there is a reason for a return, you will not be paying $20 for a return (at least that's what I'm assuming you mean). More like $4. But I'll need more information about your problem first. Thanks!

Sorry I filled in the complaint but maybe not in the correct spot???  The picture quality is poor and the sound is even worse.  I have VHS tapes that have been used and abused by 3 kids and none are in as bad a shape.  We had plans to get together with friends every thursday and watch a few episodes but we turned it off after 15 minutes because the quality was so poor.
I meant that for shipping since I paid $10 to have it sent I assumed it would cost the same to return it totaling $20 but I never realized that was a $6 handleing fee.

Thanks,
Jo Ann

So the video quality wasn't good? I never viewed them myself, so I couldn't say. Since it sounds like you sent them back, I'll take a look at them when they arrive and let you know what the situation is. You didn't actually have to pay anything to have them sent back, since you could have written "Refused, Return to Sender" on the box, but no matter. I'll let you know what I find out.

I didn't keep the box _ but I was not aware that one could refuse it once it has been opened?  I would assume the return info is on amazon so I will get it sent off.  Sorry for the hassle but I even tried it on another VCR just to see and tried another tape incase just the 1 was bad but nothing helped.

I received the tapes, and in the condition they were in when they arrived, I cannot give you a refund. The series box was torn, and the box for volume 1 was torn as well, and the tape was broken. I don't know when this happened, but the product wasn't in this condition when it shipped. I checked the remaining tapes, and the quality was fine, so I cannot verify the issue you were having. Because I cannot sell this product in this condition and there were no problems, I can't even recover any costs.

I've discussed this issue with Amazon, and their policy takes that the item must be return in the condition it was shipped. I'm sorry, but the item was damaged, and I can't take the return, especially since the remaining tapes were fine, especially considering the age of the series and the tapes. At this point, I can either send the tapes back to you or not. Let me know ASAP.

That is absolutely untrue - how can you say that they were in any condition when according to your email you never watched the tapes?  Are you telling me you never viewed the tapes to check their condition but meticulously went over every inch of the boxes?  I don't want my money back I just wanted honesty, I said from the beginning it wasn't financially even worth returning them since shipping twice was almost the cost of the tapes it was just the principle.  I am offended and hurt by your unethical behavior, in today's world I know I shouldn't be but I am.  I won't bother leaving a response on amazon since you will obviously lie and justify your actions as long as you can live with yourself just remember one thing - Karma, one should always treat others as they themselves wish to be treated.  I hope you take this to heart when dealing with people in the future.

Sincerely
Jo Ann

I am sorry but this is just going to boil up inside of me until I do something so I will leave feed back even though my initial e-mail said I wouldn't bother.  I feel that it is my duty to warn others.

Jo Ann

Sorry chris I was so upset by your response that I forgot to answer you question yes please send the tapes.  Good luck in your future business.  And thanks for checking with Amazon about refunding my money I am sure they have to have rules too.  By the way what brand of VCR are you using since my sharp and toshiba don't play them well perhaps another brand will - hey you don't have one for sale do you????

I'm sorry events took this course, but the fact of the matter is I checked the tapes and they worked fine for me. Normally I would have just reposted them, but since the first tape was completely broken and the boxes damaged, I can't do this anymore. It's very frustrating for me, and while I don't appreciate the nasty e-mail that preceded this one, I'll chalk it up as mutual frustration and leave it at that.

The problem you might have had is the tapes were fairly old, and may have had tracking issues. I have some like that myself that were recorded in EP mode, so the quality is never going to be as good as a newer VHS tape. I'm using a Zenith with auto-tracking made in 2000, which seems to take care of any imperfections on the tape. Sadly, I haven't come across any more like it, or else I would have bought it myself.

To make up for any the issue, I'll cover the shipping costs for getting the tapes back to you and extend a 10% discount for use at my Amazon store:

Why is it frustrating for you ?  You got paid for them so you are out nothing?  I should have gone with my gut and never order from someone who's only information listed under their return policy is that people should get insurance on their packages since you cannot be held responsible for things broken in the mail.  Guess you have been down this road a few times.
You integrity was in question the minute you told me you never viewed the tapes yourself but chose to list them as mint condition.  I would never try to gain from another persons loss.

It's frustrating because this is started with difference of opinion and ends up with the item in question being broken in the process. I have never run into one used video store that tests its tapes before sale, and they accept them back if they're defective. The issue here is I received broken merchandise that I can't sell or even test. Without volume 1, this set is almost completely worthless to me. What I could test was fine. You talked about karma in a previous e-mail. If I was willing to pay $35 for series on VHS and received them in the condition these tapes were in, I'd be thankful I found the series and wouldn't even think about the condition because it was fine. I have tapes that were always this sort of condition because that was the technology at the time. Better copies probably aren't up for retail, which is my point.

As for the insurance, I'm given $3 to ship all of those tapes and that doesn't even cover the other mandatory Amazon fees, so I need to charge for shipping insurance to make any money, which is my reason for selling, and selling so cheaply. As for the message you received, we don't get enough e-mail space on Amazon's mailing system for me to send my full policy (which you never asked for, and there's not much point in sending it, as it says the same things I'm telling you). The limitations Amazon places on its private sellers has done me some ills more than a few times, and they refuse to change. If you had asked questions about it as I invite you to do instead of accusing me of being deceptive, we would be on the same page.

As for me not being "out" anything, I offered you free return shipping and discounts, though I would normally charge for return shipping in a case like this. And I don't appreciate criticizing my integrity. I received broken merchandise, and am not required to do a return if the merchandise isn't in the same condition as it was sent out. You didn't tell me it was broken before you sent it back, so I have to assume it was on your end. This is the point I'm trying to establish: if the item wasn’t destroyed, I would have gladly refunded your money if I could see that the tapes were in bad condition. But I can't, and I can't prove that it was ever in bad condition because the tape you viewed was broken when I got it. I could have agreed with you then.

I'll be shipping your tapes back tomorrow, and I'll consider the matter closed. I wish this could have gone better, but it simply can't work under these circumstances.
