This buyer bought a book, I shipped it, and received an angry e-mail later telling me I sent the book to the wrong address. The buyer claimed he sent me an e-mail telling me to send the book to another address. I never received such a message, and would have been weary to comply if I had, since the whole thing could have been fraud. He demanded I pay the cost of his shipping. I informed him I never received the message and that I only ship to the address indicated on Half anyway (again, fraud), so he gets no money.
Apparently, the entire message went right through both ears, except the part about no money. He sends me a similar, shorter message, only adding a part mentioning that if I didn’t bend to his will, my feedback wouldn’t be what I expected.
I immediately contacted Half about this situation. I didn’t appreciate getting threatened, and I hoped Half could help me out with this guy. It should come as no surprise that Half informed me that they couldn’t do a thing about it and just take the negative feedback, which I’m sure they would use against me later on.
At the end of my options, I sent the buyer a stern letter telling him that I didn’t appreciate being threatened, and I didn’t know how to get it to sink in that I never received an e-mail, and therefore couldn’t follow non-existent instructions. I also told him I already contacted Half about this situation. If nothing else, I still had to leave him feedback, and one negative feedback would hurt him more than me.
Soon after, I received a simple apology. The buyer claimed the incident was Half’s fault, and he gave me positive feedback. I still haven’t left him feedback and probably won’t. I decided to be the bigger man, but not dishonest. So consider this his feedback.
